The Danish research and life science scene is strong and well developed, and the high-level universities and Danish educational system are contributing greatly to this.

Every day, young scientists are making great discoveries, they are finding new ways to diagnose diseases and they contribute to understanding and fighting diseases. However, the Danish life science and research scene is focused mainly on research – and less on commercializing.

In order to encourage Danish students and young Danish researchers to commercialize their research, to spin out companies from universities, and to make their discoveries into valuable solutions, the International Innovation Project (2IP) Program sponsored by the Novo Nordisk Foundation, will give talented life science students the opportunity to learn and practice these disciplines in Silicon Valley.

We aim to:

  • Improve student education in life science in Denmark and increase the international mobility of Danish students within life science, medical technology/device, computer science, engineering and other related fields

  • Give Danish students an explicit chance to learn about innovation and entrepreneurship from “the inside” that can benefit them later in their carriers

  • Increase the number of students entering research with a commercial and innovative focus in Denmark to enhance and encourage scientists to “bring results to the market”

  • Provide Danish students with a unique experience of entrepreneurship in Silicon Valley.
